Bright Hope School Update

A Huge Thank-you to all of you who bought an ornament in support of the Bright Hope School project.  We raised just over $6000 in support of the project.

The protective wall is in phase-2 and the section that our team helped start last November is complete.  Members of the Bright Hope community are now digging the foundation.  The community has really rallied around the school and the project as a whole.  So this work has really had a profound impact on not just the quality of life for the children at the school, but also in their family life at home.  Very few things bring a community closer together than working side by side to reach a common goal.  This has been evident in the Bright Hope Community.   The chicken hatchery is 90% complete.  They still have to hang doors and complete the wiring for the ventilation system.  The fencing materials for the two garden plots have been purchased, and the ground is being prepared for the planting of vegetables. The well is complete and the children are enjoying the fresh water. The well is being used to not only provide water for the kids, but they also can take containers of water home to bless their families. The well will irrigate the garden and supply water for the chickens. Isn't it amazing that something we take for granted has been used for beyond its basic resource of quenching thirst, but blessing the health and nutrition of the community.

In about a month,  we will be boarding an airplane for our second journey over to Bright Hope School.  A team of 7 from Harvest church and 9 from Journey will be embarking on another adventure in Ethiopia.  Our goal will be to continue the work that the community has started on the wall (phase 2), and continue developing relationships with the friends we made in November.

Stay Tuned for More Updates from our Team Members in May while we are on the ground in Addas Ababa.
